Hollow victory

1/28/12 by chaosbot
Updated 1/28/12

Urgh! Finally cracked 90000+ points thanks to fortunacus spamming the portal with bieber/lionel messi medals games (aww, how cute, someone has a crush on bieber/lionel messi). Its a hollow victory - those games were all duds (too easy, boring, crap physics engine, and almost carbon copies). Thanks fortunacus for making medal-whoring easy. Shame on the rest of you (me included! (for not voting sooner!)) for letting them survive judgement.

Edit: Yay! All done!

Argh! Only one character unidentified! Name That Pokemon was so much easier! Ironic considering I know the Newgrounds characters so much better!! Anyway I created the following cheat sheets for myself, and now release them into the wild for those of you too lazy to search the portal for the answers, too new to get some of the characters, or just plain stuck!

And if you do work out character 76 - I'd love to know - I've given up on working it out myself.

Part 2, 3, 4, 5.

Looming Guide

8/7/10 by chaosbot
Updated 8/7/10

I really enjoyed this game, but ironically, it took me ages to find the second way of leaving Looming... in the end I looked it up. I probably only needed a hint, but there are none out there. Hence this guide - don't scroll down if you only want a hint!

There are nine ways of leaving Looming. The nine dots below the "BEGIN" button on the title screen indicate which ways you have left Looming. They are:
1) Leave Immediately
2) Leave Frustrated
3) Follow the Path
4) Tally in Hand
5) A Grasp of the Sciences
6) Bring My Bones Together
7) Star Puzzle: Shattered Diagram
8) Oarbor's Hidden Signposts
9) Star Puzzle: Four Corners of Looming

Secret Medals:
Perceptive Explorer
Confident

Again with more detail:
1) Leave through Starting Portal before 1 minute.
2) Leave through Starting Portal after 1 minute.
3) Leave through Ending Portal. From the Starting Portal, follow the main path, ignoring dead ends, to find it.
4) Collect all the Tally Beads and leave through the portal at the Seecha Gateway (triangle structure, north of the Starting Portal, east of the two gears).
5) Collect all the Path Rings and leave through the portal at the Lorem Dome (dome-like structure east-northeast of Starting Portal).
6) Collect all the Oarbor Bones and leave through the portal between the four round stones (located near the northwestern corner of Looming).
7) Collect all the pieces of the shattered diagram. They tell you how to direct the lights (north-northwest of the Starting Portal).
8) Follow the hidden signposts and enter the portal that appears. Start at the signpost (it's not hidden) south of the Ending Portal (at the end of the path). You need to uncover all the Oarbor's hidden signposts to get the portal to appear. Note the hidden signposts reset when you leave Looming.
9) Find the four hidden signposts at the four corners of Looming. They tell you how to direct the lights (north-northwest of the Starting Portal).

Secret Medals:
Perceptive Explorer - Travel through the secret portal.
You get this for following the Oarbor's Hidden Signposts (see above).
Confident - Access the developer notes.
You need to leave Looming all nine ways (see above), and then on the title screen click the "NOTES" button that appears below the "BEGIN" button.

Just in case you're really stuck:
7) Directions for the lights:
[N] [S]
[SE] [NW]
8) The second hidden signpost is southeast of the fourth hidden signpost. The two gears are northwest of the fifth hidden signpost.
9) Directions for the lights:
[W] [S]
[E] [N]

Oarbor's Hidden Signposts - Text
#0 "Welcome, visitor. The time I have left here is brief, so I will dispense with courtesy. I wish you to visit and learn. South of here is a patch of rough ground. Look in the center for a hidden signpost."
#1 "I have lived in Looming for a long time, but I was not born here. I will die here, however. Further south, past a cluster of spires, you will find a second hidden signpost."
#2 "The Lorem came here after some trouble in their original home; I did not ask, and they did not offer. They were friendly, but flighty. They fled Looming in existential terror. To the west, a signpost is hidden off the end of a path."
#3 "The Seecha were workers and explorers. They saw me as a threat, and attacked me. I admire their fierce tenacity. They saw no point in remaining after the Epiphany showed them their departure. Another signpost hides to the north between two metal floor panels."
#4 "Many have come to Looming. When I first arrived, there were signs of earlier settlement, but those traces have crumbled to dust by now. Everyone leaves, but I will stay until my end. East of the second hidden signpost is another, at the base of a spire."
#5 "The Epiphany occurs here. It is natural to Looming, as far as I know. It is like snow or wind; it comes, it lingers, it fades away. And it makes you know your future. Stand between the two gears, elsewhere, and travel north to another hidden signpost."
#6 "I have been in Looming for a long time. I have seen many Epiphanies, and have seen far into the future. This place never keeps its visitors. They always leave. To the east, where the path is just out of sight, a signpost hides."
#7 "I remember my death, and your arrival. I remember you reading these signs. I recall my bones growing dry and bleached in the dust. Follow the spires to the northeast. Between the final two is the last hidden signpost."
#8 "If you have unearthed all of my messages, then a portal sits to the south. An Epiphany is coming. I remember it. What will it make you remember? That is one of the few mysteries still masked to me."

LOL! Only medals here so far! I've been been surfing Newgrounds for years, but it was the medals that made me sign up! I kept forgetting which ones I'd collected! Ha!
